"It is valuable," Sherlock agreed, "and it is also counterfeit. I asked Victor for his opinion and he agrees with me."

Victor Trevor grinned. "I think, to be quite accurate, we should add that even you were amazed at how valuable it really is. And yes, Greg, the original counterfeiter, who probably got paid a quarter of the value of each note, would be astonished to find they had become collectors' items, and fetch considerably more than the proper notes do."
