“What holiday are we celebrating today, Doctor Watson?”
Doctor Watson gulped. “Um, the new year, ma’am.”
“Really? I can be forgiven for thinking it might be April Fool’s given your choice of companion.” She stressed the final word. “That pig you are hiding behind the sofa is not welcome in this sitting room or in this household. Remove it from the premises immediately or you shall find yourself and it removed permanently.”
“Yes, ma’am. Just a bit of high spirits, ma’am.”
“No doubt. Were that your high spirits did not include invitations to tea extended to barnyard animals!”
