While pretending to sort through her ring collection, Heidne watched Tatloch reclining elegantly on a chaise longue, casually stroking her gigantic panther behind the ears. The cat's contented purr shook the floorboards.
Between the Empress and her beast, Heidne was hard pressed to decide which of the two was more graceful, beautiful and deadly.
"What are you looking at, little thief? Plotting to steal one of my treasures? That'd be a bad idea," she chuckled to herself in a deep, husky voice full of danger and unrivalled authority.
Heidne realised there was something she wanted more fiercely than any treasure.
