Perhaps in an alternate universe, the Aquarian Age that my mother's generation was promised finally arrived.

Maybe somewhere, everything is Elysian, a realm of delight, where the message of Mudita is believed in fully, mankind's shared inheritance. Where egalitarianism is accepted as an inviolable way of life, people have and earn faith in each other, and the only outlook is positive.

Would that we lived in that universe, instead of this one.

Here, self-important people, with an inflated sense of pride accrue wealth and power, rather than positive Karma. Waging war on those brave enough to defy their will, and reward those who turn a blind eye to their misdeeds, money keeping them from the slightest hint of guilt for their own sins.

Here, rage and despair are ubiquitous, and there's no relief from the frenzy and the friction that make so many grieve.

Maybe somewhere from where we are, the situation is not so abysmal, and all is as it should be: With kindness and sincerity.

Or perhaps I'm merely telling a tale that's filled with nonsense, instead of a vision of an ideal.

Perhaps I'm just a woman who's wasting her time in hoping for the impossible.
