Mrs Harrison had lamented about the state of her cottage and how the wind was blowing in and how cold it was. She had carried on with how hard-hearted her son was, when she'd phoned him to tell him and he'd said he'd couldn't come over until the following weekend.

Afterwards, the vicar said to Miss Marple, "Poor lady, it has been very hard on her."

Miss Marple looked sternly at him and said, "Last month, her son twice offered to come over and do the repairs, but she told him it wasn't necessary, so now she'll have to wait."
