"What a coincidence," Inspector Slack said with a grimace, "we're called to a suspicious death and who do we see, sitting in an armchair and knitting, knitting as if nothing has happened, is that old biddy, Miss Marple."

"Will you be planning to speak to her, sir?" Sergeant Lake.

"I'd rather not, but she probably already knows who did it, why, and what they had for breakfast, so I had better do so."

Slack walked across the hotel lounge and was greeted by Miss Marple, who said, "Inspector, how lovely to see you."

"Tell me what you know," Slack pleaded.
