"You don't seem very surprised at the news," Dolly Bantry said to her friend, when they heard of the arrest of George and William Hellier for causing a fire which destroyed their mother's home.
"I'm not," Miss Marple replied. "They were exactly the same as small boys, fighting over a crown because they both wanted to be the king in the school play."
"What happened?"
"They broke the crown, so neither could play the role. This time, both wanted to inherit the house. With Mrs Hellier in hospital and unlikely to come home, both were trying to outwit the other."
