Looking into the crater’s, Buffy felt the sharp sting of an old wound that never healed right.
Spike stood beside her, hands in his pockets, staring silently at Sunnydale’s resting place.
“I can’t believe they’re talking about rebuilding,” she said.
Spike’s jaw tightened. “Rewriting the past, more like. Paving over everything that happened here as if it didn’t matter.”
“They’ll never understand, Spike. All they see is profit.”
He scoffed. “So we watch them destroy our legacy for a quick buck?”
“No, we fight it,” she said. “Some places stay dead for a reason. And Sunnydale stays a ghost town.”
