I had my very first exhibit
At the most prestigious art gallery tonight
I thought that I was très avant-garde
But the critics called my every effort a fright

I don’t know quite what the problem was
I’m sure I really did try my absolute best
But I had to take every last thing down
At the gallery manager’s own behest

I suppose that life as a sought-after artist
Is not the path that I was meant to take
I always was told that I had a great talent
But I don’t know where I made my mistake
