Notes: Trying to warm up with some writing and this came out. Not as happy as I intended but here we are.

There are times when you know you should feel comforted, relieved to be out of your house, your old life. There's no tension in the air, no held breath as you wait for the world to crash in on itself after a shout, a jagged word.

But even though you're safe, you still find yourself holding that breath. You brace yourself for someone to lash out, you wait for the anger to come. You grew up with no sense of safety and now that you have it, you don't understand what it is.

You don't relax, you don't know how.
