Title: Kairos
Fandom: Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Rating: G
Notes: Character: Giles

Since word came down that he'd gotten the long-awaited Watcher assignment not much had gone right.

There'd been the god-awful plane ride. The Academy's budget didn't run to first-class and California is an infinite distance away when one is stuffed in a chair like a pimento in an olive.

California was hot; Sunnydale was dull and dusty. His cover as a librarian was ludicrous; these children didn't read. His footsteps were the only sound he heard in this room.

Then she came in. He knew her immediately. In that moment everything in his universe righted itself. His mission had begun.

Notes: Molly/Lestrade

"C'mon," Greg says, seeing Molly shiver as they leave Baker Street "My car's not far, I'll run you home." Molly opens her mouth as if to refuse but Greg holds up a hand. "I insist."

Cold turns her cheeks pink. "Thank you."

They talk as they walk, about everything and nothing. Even though it's cold, Greg still feels warm and when Molly stops, lets out a little gasp, he knows why.

Snowflakes float down around them and her smile is wide, beautiful, perfect.

He kisses her, right there, for the very first time.

He knows it won't be the last.
